Administrator of The Episcopal Home
Mary Grace Shearer joined the Episcopal Home staff thirty plus years ago as administrator. As administrator of EH, Mary Grace’s primary responsibility is the safety of the residents, staff, and visitors of the Episcopal Home. In doing so, the implementation of DHS regulations for personal care homes is essential. She has direct supervision of the staff and volunteers, as well as the overall property of the facility.
Her sole interest is in the life of the residents and the choices residents have while residing in the Episcopal Home. Providing choices is not a solitary task but one of the entire staff, and it is not without budgetary constraints.
Mary Grace earned her BSW from Shippensburg University and her MSW from Temple University. Her career objective was always to work with aging individuals, and yet her first social work job was as a caseworker for Children and Youth. Currently, a career objective is to work with aging individuals and their families via Family Group Decision Making.
She has served the Shippensburg Community as a Shippensburg Library Board Member and as President of the Board. Mary Grace has also served as a Shippensburg Chamber of Commerce Board Member and as President of the Board. On the campus of Shippensburg University, she serves as a member of the Social Work Department Advisory Council. In the Diocese of Central PA, Mary Grace serves on the Episcopal Square Board and Operation Understanding Committee. She was made an Honorary Canon in 2008. Mary Grace has a Pug named Pug and resides on the Episcopal mini-campus in Shippensburg.
